Combined PV Battery Grid Integration with High Frequency Magnetics Enabled Power Electronics

Power electronics that integrate SiC-based switching devices and high frequency nanocrystalline magnetics will be developed and demonstrated for modular grid integration of combined PV and energy storage.  The project involves the development of a combination of power electronics, high frequency transformer, and enabling magnetics technologies as well as associated controls strategies.  Experimental demonstrations of 50kW converter module and high frequency transformer components will be performed in year 2 with experimental demonstrations of multiple module integration in both series and parallel configurations in the final budget period.
